Kaiser Franz Joseph
A lovely warm and attractively decorated restaurant in an indifferent location. Huge portions of food in the true Germanic tradition with lots of savoury meat dishes flavoured with smoked bacon. It really is true Austrian cuisine rather than a poor Romanian impersonation, but you have to like Austrian cuisine to come here. With main courses around 25 lei noi it won’t break your bank. It is small, intimate and perfect for a romantic occasion.

Louisenhof
Excellent Tyrolean chophouse in a villa apart which adheres to the splendid Teutonic notion that the best things come with first class beer. The boundaries between Austria and Germany appear - not for the first time? - to have been somewhat blurred as there are clear Bavarian influences in the nominally Tyrolean food, but the mix is good, making Louisenhof a real treat.
